This old post card showing Pilley Village was sent  to America on 8th May 1911. The caption reads: 'Pilley, an Old World Village in the New Forest.'

As you can see from the lower picture The inn is still there and is much the same as it was almost 100 years ago.

Although the pace of life has increased over the years and we now have all the advantages of modern technology, our love of god has changed very little and this is reflected in St Nicholas Chapel, the building may be modern but the worship is based on those age old traditions of praising the Lord.

Some of you may be aware that the Church of England all over the country is looking at what it does and how it can best use its resources of people and churches.

Winchester Diocese is no different and recently held consultations which resulted in the diocesan church family (all the parishes) deciding to follow a programme that would enable us all to consider what we do with an eye to seeing what was working well, what we could do better at and what, if anything, we might give up.

To understand this programme, which must be undertaken by all parishes by mid 2008, there will be taster days to try out the five different methods of how to do this.
