Boldre and South Baddesley Benefice in the Church of England diocese of Winchester
Major changes proposed for the Boldre and South Baddesley Benefice.

|   Benefice Web Site   |   St John's Web Site   |   St Mary's web site   |

1. Lymington, Pennington and South Baddesley
To be served by two stipendiary clergy, based in Lymington and Pennington.

a) A new United Benefice to be created from these three parishes. Revd Peter Salisbury
would become the Incumbent of all three parishes. A new person would be appointed as Associate Vicar; s/he would live in Pennington Vicarage and have the local responsibility for St Mark's, Pennington. This person would also share in other benefice-wide responsibilities as agreed with the incumbent.

South Baddesley could have a Reader as nominated 'congregation/church leader' operating under the authority and guidance of the incumbent.

b) It is envisaged that the Associate Vicar would give some time to benefice/borough wide issues as agreed with the Incumbent e.g. heading up schools work, or care of the elderly, or business/civic engagement. It is for 2 clergy for the whole benefice to share duties etc.

c) Each parish would continue to have its own PCC. There would be a benefice leadership   group, probably consisting of clergy, readers, wardens, secretaries and treasurers
An alternative would be to create a United Parish with one PCC and each church having its own local Church Council, responsible to the PCC.

d)  Patronage of the new benefice would be jointly between the Bishop (Patron of Lymington), the Vicar of Milford (Patron of Pennington), and Lord Teynham (Patron of South Baddesley).

e) Staffing with current proposals and existing people:
1 Incumbent   1 Assistant Vicar   1 Reader   1 Reader in training

Clergy allocation as per Archdeacon's formula:
Lymington 1.18    Pennington 0.65   South Baddesley 0.19 = Total 2.02

1.1 An alternative proposal has been suggested which would keep Boldre and South Baddesley together. This would place them in with Brockenhurst and Sway. Details to be found under the Sway, Brockenhurst and Boldre section - para 3.1.

The allocation to Lymington and Pennington under this alternative arrangement would be:  Lymington 1.18   Pennington 0.65 = Total 1.83
2.  Milford-on-Sea, Everton, Hordle and Tiptoe
To be served by two stipendiary clergy, based in Milford and Hordle.

a)  Create a Group Ministry of these two parishes.
Each parish would have its own incumbent and PCC but each incumbent would also be licensed to serve in the other parish.
There would be a Group Council, probably made up of the clergy, readers, wardens, secretaries, and treasurers. Its purpose is for joint common mission.

All NSMs and Readers would be licensed to the Group though based in each parish. This creates a Ministry Team for the Group. When appointments are made gifts, skills etc. to balance the gifts and skills of the whole team will be taken into consideration.

b) Patron of both parishes:  The Bishop

c)        Staffing with existing people:
             2 Incumbents   2 NSMs   13 Readers

Clergy allocation as per Archdeacon's formula:

Milford 1.01   Hordle 0.8 = Total 1.81
